It has been like this for most of the time I’ve owned it. You can see that the product is definitely dry, and peeling away from the edges of the jar.

I tend to reach for MAC Paints FAR more often, because they’re creamier and not as rough on mature/dry/uneven skin, and they’re a bit easier to apply and blend. When I think an ordinary primer would be too sticky, or make the end look too vibrant, or when my lids are stained from other makeup and I need the opacity(The ARE more opaque than Paint, or UDPP). Bare Study works on fairer tones(like mine) but Painterly, the paler nude shade is STILL too dark and pink to really look “natural”, though it is nice on the lid with more daytime looks. I own soft ochre and it's made more for your naturally tanner people not your light to fair people, where painterly is more pinky. The best paint pots are soft ochre and painterly.

Also, the colors may not suit all skin tones. Like most people, I really like soft ochre and painterly but I think if you do want more than a neutral shimmer, indianwood is the loveliest bronzed colour. All of those colors are now discontinued. I also have Delft, Moss Scape, and Green smoke. I have paintpots in Painterly(matte pale nude w/some pink undertones), Bare Study(pale pearly nude with an almost gold sheen). My suggestion would be to keep your concealer and eye shadow primer separate. You can use concealer as a base but it might crease. It’s a base for your eye shadows and that’s what it does. I noticed even 6 weeks after purchasing, it had dried to the point of making application feel really difficult, with it tugging on the skin, flaking off, etc. You won’t be able to use mac painterly paint pot for your under eyes. You have to blend fast, and you will probably never use the entire jar of product before it’s ruined. If there’s even a hint of dryness on the lid, they tend to make the skin look crepe-y and rough.

A highly pigmented long-wearing blendable eye primer andor cream shadow MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot goes on creamy and dries to an intense vibrant finish that lasts for 24 hours. They are pretty nicely pigmented, but it is possible to build up coverage, or blend sparingly, for different levels of opacity. MAC Bare Study Pro Longwear Paint Pot 2300 for 017 oz is a light peachy beige with warmer undertones and a pearly sheen. They do NOT crease, and shadows over top do not crease. You can use paintpots as a base for more natural looks, for a more even lid color. I like my darker paintpots, even if I rarely use them. I’m still a bit sad that MAC has gutted the brighter/darker color selection, except for Limited Edition releases. I’ve had these a while, as well as a few other LE or Discontinued shades, but I rarely use them, and so forget about them, except when I see MUA forum posts asking about them. It needs to be removed with an oil based cleanser but it won't budge.I think I wrote a short comparison shortly after I began blogging, when I purchased MAC Paint, and wanted to compare it. This product is the BEST eyeliner I have ever used! It is blacker than any product I have tried and it's waterproof. This gives a more natural appearance but still a little definition to the brows and helps to blend in the crease colours. Morphe Palette 'Grand Glam' colours in 'Frenchy', 'Brassy', & 'Mooch' which are all matte colours.įor the brow highlight, I used a face powder that matched her skin colour so there was nothing obvious under the brow. By using that type of colour, it will help to smooth the other colours out, make it less dramatic, and add a little 'creaminess' to the eyes. Monday, 2 June 2014 MAC Paint Pots - Soft Ochre vs Painterly MAC’s Paint Pots are fab, they can be used as a primer before applying your eyeshadow, or as a shadow in themselves. Nude Cream Colour Base does not dry, it stays creamy but if I used that by itself it would cause the eye shadow to crease so by mixing the two together, you get the best of both worlds. The reason I used these two together is because Painterly dries very matte and if I used it by itself on a dry eye lid, any eye shadow I put on top will not blend and will look very patchy.
